Rules & Regulations

Club Rules

General Conduct

  1. Respect: All members, guests, and visitors must treat others with respect and courtesy
  2. Safety: Members are responsible for their own safety and the safety of others
  3. Equipment: Club equipment must be treated with care and returned after use
  4. Cleanliness: Help keep the hall clean - clean up after yourself
  5. No Smoking: The facility is smoke-free at all times
  6. Alcohol: Alcohol consumption is subject to approval for special events only

Facility Use

  1. Non-Marking Shoes: Only non-marking sports shoes are permitted on the playing surface
  2. Equipment: Do not move tables or barriers without permission
  3. Valuables: The club is not responsible for lost or stolen property
  4. Children: Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times
  5. Practice Times: Members may practice during open hall times except during scheduled fixtures

Membership Requirements

  1. Registration: All players must be registered members to participate in club activities
  2. Fees: Membership fees and session fees must be paid as required
  3. Insurance: All members are covered by club insurance during official club activities
  4. Behavior: Continued membership is subject to adherence to club rules and code of conduct

Competition Rules

Club Competitions

  1. Eligibility: Only current members may participate in club competitions
  2. Registration: Players must register for fixtures and competitions as required
  3. Punctuality: Arrive on time for scheduled matches
  4. Equipment: Players must use approved table tennis equipment
  5. Scoring: Matches follow ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation) rules
  6. Disputes: Any disputes should be referred to the match referee or committee

Tournament Play

  1. Entry: Tournament entries must be submitted by the specified deadline
  2. Fees: Entry fees must be paid at time of registration
  3. Withdrawal: Players withdrawing after the draw is made may forfeit their entry fee
  4. Conduct: All players must follow ITTF rules and tournament-specific regulations
  5. Results: Match results must be reported immediately after completion

ITTF Basic Rules

Games are played to 11 points (must win by 2 points). Key rules include:

  • Service alternates every 2 points
  • Ball must bounce once on server’s side, then once on receiver’s side
  • Ball must be tossed at least 16cm for service
  • If ball touches net during service, a “let” is called and service is retaken
  • In doubles, service must go from right half-court to right half-court diagonally

Code of Conduct

Expected Behavior

All members, guests, and visitors are expected to:

  1. Be Respectful: Show respect to all players, officials, coaches, and spectators
  2. Be Sporting: Display good sportsmanship in victory and defeat
  3. Be Honest: Play fairly and honestly at all times
  4. Be Responsible: Take responsibility for your own behavior and actions
  5. Be Inclusive: Welcome players of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds
  6. Be Safe: Look out for your own safety and that of others

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are not acceptable:

  1. Verbal Abuse: Offensive language, harassment, or verbal intimidation
  2. Physical Aggression: Any form of physical violence or intimidation
  3. Discrimination: Discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, or ability
  4. Cheating: Deliberately breaking rules or misleading officials
  5. Damage: Deliberate damage to equipment or facilities
  6. Disruption: Behavior that disrupts play or club activities

Consequences

Violations of the code of conduct may result in:

  1. Verbal warning
  2. Written warning
  3. Suspension from club activities
  4. Termination of membership
  5. Referral to appropriate authorities (in serious cases)

Junior Player Guidelines

For Junior Players

  1. Respect: Respect coaches, officials, other players, and parents
  2. Try Your Best: Always give your best effort
  3. Learn: Focus on learning and improving, not just winning
  4. Have Fun: Remember that table tennis is meant to be enjoyable
  5. Equipment: Take care of club equipment

For Parents & Guardians

  1. Support: Encourage and support your child positively
  2. Respect: Respect coaches’ decisions and teaching methods
  3. Behavior: Model good sportsmanship and respectful behavior
  4. Supervision: Remain at the venue or ensure your child can be safely supervised
  5. Communication: Communicate concerns appropriately to coaches or committee

Health & Safety

Illness

  1. Do not attend if you are unwell
  2. Follow current health guidelines and directives
  3. Practice good hygiene (hand washing, sanitizing)
  4. Respect others’ personal space

Injuries

  1. Report all injuries to a coach or committee member
  2. First aid kit is available at the venue
  3. In case of serious injury, call 000
  4. Complete an incident report form for all injuries

Emergency Procedures

  1. Fire: Exit via nearest safe exit, assemble in car park
  2. Medical Emergency: Call 000, inform coach/committee member
  3. Evacuation: Follow instructions from officials

Hall Hire

Organizations hiring the hall must:

  1. Provide proof of public liability insurance (where required)
  2. Leave the hall clean and tidy
  3. Report any damage immediately
  4. Not exceed agreed occupancy numbers
  5. Comply with all club rules during hire period

Amendments

These rules and regulations may be amended by the TTTA Committee. Members will be notified of any significant changes.
