About the Association
History & Heritage
The Townsville Table Tennis Association was established in 1931 and was the first table tennis association to own its own building in the Commonwealth. Located at 60 Charters Towers Road in Hermit Park, Townsville, the facility houses two halls - the original from 1951 and a newer playing hall constructed in 1982.
Our Mission
We’re a club for everyone — locals, newcomers to Townsville, and travelling players who drop in from around the world. Our coaches, several of them current and former title holders, develop players at every stage, from first-time juniors to veterans competing at Queensland and National Championships.
Our Facility
Our venue features:
- Ten tables set up for regular play and club competition — reconfigured to eight for ITTF-rated tournaments, which require extra clearance around each table
- Air-conditioned hall to manage Townsville’s summer heat
- Taraflex flooring, the same surface used at Olympic competition
- Top-Spin Café (our canteen)
- Shower and toilet facilities
- Ample parking
Inclusive Community
We welcome players of all ages and abilities - from 4 to 104 year olds, all abilities are welcome. The club has produced many champions and maintains a reputation for excellence in competitive play. We actively host international visitors and social players, welcoming guests from Germany, Hong Kong, England, Norway, China, Japan, Egypt, Ireland, France, and Venezuela.
Get Involved
Whether you’re looking to play socially, compete in tournaments, or learn from experienced coaches, Townsville Table Tennis has a place for you. See our Roll of Honour for the players and volunteers who’ve shaped the club since 1931.
